Top things to do in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the world-famous 17th century capital of Holland in the Netherlands. Soak in the pleasant ambience of the historic buildings, beautiful museums and boats on the canals. Experience Amsterdam, a truly unique city!

Flower Market Amsterdam

Amsterdam’s floating Flower Market, which dates from 1862, is a renowned icon on the Singel canal, at the heart of the city’s UNESCO-listed Canal Ring. Tulips are synonymous with Holland and are best experienced in March, April or May. However, the floating Flower Market in Amsterdam is a great spot to find not only tulips but also narcissus, snowdrops, carnations, violets, peonies or orchids, around the year every Monday to Saturday. Head home with tulip bulbs for your garden or plants for your home, as well as a fun selection of typically Dutch souvenirs.

The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

Rijksmuseum is the principal national museum in Holland. The 8,000 objects in 80 rooms showcase the 800 years of Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages to the present. World-famous highlights from the Dutch Golden Age, including Rembrandt van Rijn’s Night Watch and Johannes Vermeer’s The Milkmaid, can be admired at the Rijksmuseum.

Van Gogh Museum

Vincent van Gogh was a nineteenth-century Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. His work had a huge impact on twentieth-century art. He was little appreciated in his lifetime, selling just one single work. Today, the Van Gogh Museum with its collection of over 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 750 written documents, draws some 1.5 million visitors each year. Be awed by Van Gogh’s masterpieces of his self-portraits, Sunflowers, The Potato Eaters, and The Bedroom. The museum also owns a collection of works by other painters who were his friends or whom he influenced. Together these works give a wonderful overview of Van Gogh’s life and work.

Canal cruises in Amsterdam

A canal cruise through Amsterdam’s historic waterways is one of the best ways to explore the city. These guided boat trips offer unparalleled views of the centuries-old architecture, charming canal houses and monuments. As Amsterdam is surrounded by water, most of the museums and attractions are easily accessible from the canals.
Several canal tours operate on a hop-on hop-off basis, which is a convenient way to visit your must-see attractions. On board the boat, a tour guide or audio recording in a selection of languages provides fascinating background knowledge on the sights as they pass by.

Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House, in the centre of Amsterdam, features the secret annex where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during the Second World War. For over two years she described the events of her daily life in hiding. Anne’s original diary along with some of her other notebooks are on display as part of the Anne Frank House's permanent exhibition.

The Heineken Experience

The Heineken Experience is housed in the first built Heineken brewery in the city centre of Amsterdam. In 1988 the brewery closed due to inability to meet high demand and since 1991 it has been welcoming visitors from all over the world. The Tour is a self-guided interactive journey where you discover the history of the HEINEKEN Company, the 4 natural ingredients of its beer, the brewing process, a tasting room, the Heineken® brand and the partnerships with UEFA Champions League and Rugby World Cup. At the end of the tour you can enjoy 2 Heinekens or learn how to draught the perfect Heineken®.

Plan your next holiday to the Amsterdam.
